Sorry, wrong answer. Initially Darryl Jones model was equipped with Aero pickups. Now (for about two years) Lakland is equipping all its basses with "Lakland" pickups.

I've got some Aero Series 1 pickups from an old Lakland DJ bass in one of my jazz basses. They are the best pickups I've ever heard. Just incredible. Huge bottom and articulate at the same time.

You can't really go wrong with either one, though. What kind of tone are you looking for?

So who makes "Lakland" pickups? (They look identical to my Fralins.)

Between the two, I prefer the Aero's. In the same arena, the JBX4 from VintageVibe rocks! I would order the JBX4 slightly overwound for warmth. Very punchy, very quiet. Beautifully built.

So does anyone know if the Aero Jazz PUPs will fit a SX SJB-75?

I have rarely seen so much false information on Talkbass

Originally, DJs have been fitted with Aero J pickups.
Joe Osborns have been fitted with Fralins, originally, of course.

NOW, the default option from Lakland in their jazz basses are their own custom "Lakland" pickups. I believe they make them in-house, like they do the LH-3s, which are only fitted in -94 and -02 basses.

FWIW, I have never heard the Lakland J pickups, but have heard good things.

The Lakland DJ pickups are all made in house(as well as all the other Lakland pickups).

This is what I found from the Lakland website, regarding Hanson electronics and the Lakland pups

"Hanson electronics is managed separately from Lakland but functions as a sister company. We occupy the same building and work together daily. All R&D for the Lakland products is done on site with both Hanson and Lakland employees."

It's a joint endeavor.
