I just had my bass rewired, and now the output is noticeably lower than before the tech worked on it. Any idea why? Here are the particulars:
The bass has two Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups, a master volume, balance, and tone. All passive.
The Volume is a push/pull that now puts the pickups into series (together, like in the new Fenders).
The tech replaced the old push/pull volume pot as well as the balance pot--both were on the fritz. The tone pot was left alone.
When I run the bass in parallel, output is significantly lower than it was previously (running in parallel). It also seems to have somewhat more treble--I have been rolling back the tone pot more than before.
In series, the bass behaves as expected--increased volume, less highs, more low mids.
When in series, the balance pot must be either at center detent or panned toward the bridge pickup. When rolled toward the neck pickup, it cuts volume. I was told that this was normal for series wiring when there's a balance pot.
I am clueless when it comes to wiring (which is why I took the bass to a tech in the first place). Any ideas as to why the lower output and increased treble in parallel?
