Why are the stock Bartolinis in my Ibanez SR1005 so noisy?

Seriously...why? I love the way this guitar feels. The precision and quickness it affords are first class. The horrific noise, humming, buzzing, shrill, hideous feedbacks, are, however, warming me to the prospect of gutting it and replacing all of the electrics with a passive system. The problems presist in ALL playing environments and through various quality (GK, MarkBass, Ampeg) amps. I'm not a beginner (30 years playing, 15 years formal instruction, 25 years recording and performance experience) but, man, I'm stumped! Help? Anyone?

first is the bass shielded, and the shield grounded?
secondly you can try bypassing the preamp and wire the pickups straight to the output jack, if no noise then you know it is the preamp, which would not surprise me since Bartolinis are usually quiet.
