- - Wiring question

Hey here, so I have a 1994 MIM jazz that I'm looking to wire in a specific way. It's a stage bass so I need the controls to be accessible but function able. Here's what I've got to work with. I want both pickups connected to a volume control each, which then leads to an active onboard preamp I have had specially designed, then straight to the output jack. Problem is, I only want two knobs showing; one for volumes and the other to control the preamp (it's an overdrive unit). Can anyone help me with this? I was thinking of a push/pull pot; down for neck pickup and pull it up for bridge pickup. I never combine both pickups, I use one or the other on full tone throughout my set. Would this work? Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks :)

Maybe a couple of stacked pots- vol/vol and 1 for pre (unless it's a 3-band).

Yeah, I would go for a concentric dual-volume setup. However, you did say that you never mix your pickups, so it would be better to have a single volume with a pickup selector switch. That would minimize the amount of knob-fiddling required to change pickups, and it would allow the volume pot to be wired with its wiper terminal varying output impedance, rather than input impedance, so it will behave better.
