AER Basscube 2

AER Basscube 2

Has anyone tried one of these (the new Mk II version)?

Apparently it sounds great with double bass, but as a doubler I would like to know how it performs with electric bass.

I am currently using an EA iAMP800 + CXL112 cab, with a Presonus Acousti-Q preamp for the double bass. As the Basscube has two channels it could potentially replace all of this with one box.

I've only tried BassCube for DB, and I think it's the best sounding amp I ever heard. But I think, it's probably to small for BG, and the sound is very clear, almost hi-fi-like. For BG people like more the amps with coloured midrange, as I've noticed.

Resurrection!

Anyone tried the new Basscube2 for both DB and EB? How's about an Amp two? The AER stuff is pretty elite around here... hard to find first hand users it seems.

Should have gone to NAMM to check it out!

Basscube

I haven't tried the basscube 2 but I do own the first basscube. Which sounds as great with BG as it does with upright. Its speakers have the tendency to sound deep and lack highs.
For this reason I connect an extra cab (for me the Epifani 112 does a great job) which adds that extra highs beautifully. And a bit more volume too.

When I need lots of volume I use the AI Focus 3 series III head. This one is exactly the opposite to the Basscube. So next to two Epifani 112's I added an extra active AER sub. Which makes it also perfect for as well BG as upright. And so damned loud that in smaller rooms up to 300 people you can get a strong bass sound without PA support.

... and here's another resurrection
Anyone have any experience with the Basscube 2?
Anyone?

I wonder why they are not popular amongst bassist. It's probably the price Their guitar amps seem to be very good but I never heard or seen a bassplayer with it.

Norre,
I think you are correct in your observation that they are indeed very expensive. Personally, I liked the design of the first bass cube because it truly was a doubling amp since it had three channels. That's a great design.
