Best pickup for me?

Ok so I am buying my first upright soon, and i would like to get a pickup installed. I don't want the cheapest thing though, i am willing to spend the good $$ to get something GREAT so i do not have to feel the need to purchase another one any time soon down the line.

If i have a budget of 300$ what would be my best bet? I just want something that will be reliable, and sound good.

The Best Pickup for you will depend on the Bass that you get.
Are you getting a plywood, Hybrid, fully carved, or other?
Personally, I love the Full circle for a good all-around Pickup, Some like the Realist, I have heard good things about the Revolution Solo. a simple search for "Good Double Bass Pickup" turned up 232 threads. Look around, and then choose what suits you and your playing style.

What's best for the bass isn't always best for the band-er

The Fishman Full Circle seems to do best across a number of different basses and playing styles based on most of the posts on TalkBass and my personal listening experiences, unless you will be doing a great deal of bowing. Then the Realist may be the best choice. I have very little experience with the Revolution Solo. I own one but on my bass with my setup the Realist sounds better. Just my observations.

I listened to the tracks at Myspace.com/bandprotocol.

Your profile is not filled out.

How do you intend to use the upright? Just trying to piece together what I heard on Myspace, your screen name, and double bass.
