Bets Amp for Double Bass

Hi folks, I am new here and wanted to ask a question...

What would you say is the best amp for a double bass, my girlfriend plays in a rock n roll band and I am going to buy her one for Christmas this year... Is seperates a good idea or is a combo the way forward...

we live in the uk and any help is very much appreciated.

What price range are you in? A separate cab and head is usually better, but there are some excellent combos out there. Is weight an issue? Will she be playing electric as well as upright? Let us know. Be prepared for a plethera of opinions on what the best amp is, it is very subjective. What is best for one player may not work for another. Whatever you decide, I would take her and the bass with you if possible. The type of pick up, bass, strings, and technic all affect how the bass will sound when amplified.

You've just opened Pandora's box. World Peace may be easier to achieve than finding the 'best' amp.

Good luck my friend.
