blue 8-ball - stage mic?

i've been experimenting with mixing a mic with my revolution II, with nice results, the mic i'm playing with is a rather expensive one which i'm not eager to submit to the "elements". i am intrigued by the blue 8-ball which, on paper, sounds like it could work well. does anyone have any experience with it?
