| | | | Cabinet--10" or 12"? I am thinking of going for a seperate amp head and seperate Cab. I play D/B--jazz--small venues.
My question is this: Is there a big difference in sound between a 10" and a 12" speaker cab? With a 10" would I lose some of the depth in the Bass end?

The 12" (if we take the same model) goes lower, is louder, is almost as heavy as the 10" and only requires a slightly larger cab.
I'd go for the 12" or even for a 15". |

Other than efficiency and tonal differences, size and weight come into play between 10s and 12s. Look at the whole picture for your realm of gigs.

| I've yet to have any useful results putting an acoustic bass through a 15" speaker. I'm a 10" guy myself. More sound needed? Add more 10's. |

My personal preference is a 2x8 cabinet for Double Bass, but there are lots of cabinets out there with 10's, 12's and 15's that sound very good.

I have four cabs I've used with my AI. A 10" and a horn that I modified that has a wizzer style speaker and is front ported, the little GK 12" extension and is sealed, and EA wizzy 12M that has a wizzer style speaker and has that transmission line port thing, and an Aguilar GS112nt that is front ported but has a deep cab. Each cab sounds unique. The speaker size is not directly proportional to 'sound size' either. |

Likewise, you'll find some players who go with a pair of Wizzy 10 cabs when they need more sound. |

I'd go for the 12" or even for a 15". | Thanks everybody for your replies--the 12" is 'sound' advise.
