Question Carvin and GK Combo Amps

I was just looking on carvin.com at the
PB200-15 15" w/ horn 160 watts $349 (Good deal???)
BR12 12" w/ horn 120 watts (Good for double bass?)
BR15 Same as BR12 with 15"
BR615 15" w/horn 600 watts
BRX112NEO 12" w/ horn 800 watts (this one looks nice)
K15 (Keyboard Amp) 15" w/ horn 100 watts $399
I am looking for an amp mainly for double bass in a jazz setting but also need it to work okay for electric.
Any Carvin lovers or haters out there?
What do you recommend?

Also, I was just looking in my Lemur catologue at the
GK Combo MB150S (I know this is a great amp. Is the Lemur price of $715 the lowest out there?)
MB150E (Stereo Chorus for $110 extra? No thanks!)
I am particularly interested if the Back Line series is halfway decent for double bass. I've been thinking about using one untill I'm in a better position to throw down 1k on a MB150, a AI or a WW.

I played a few Carvin amps for Upright ,
I think they are really good , really nice punch and they are very powerful , buts its a hitech sound , it will color the sound a lot .. The BRX112NEO 12" seems really sweet ..
If you can , just try them all and yo will notice what you like ..

Would a GK400RB Head with a decent 115 speaker cab sound good for double bass?

The 400RB and 115 would sound great if the cab is of the "punchy" not "muddy" variety. I have used a 15" successfully with upright.

Note, however, that my thinking about speakers is evolving. I have come around to agreeing with the experts that a cone midrange is desirable for any speaker larger than a 10 or a 2x10 arrayed vertically. This week I will order the parts to add an Eminence LA6-CBMR mid to my DIY 12" cab, and I will report on the results. A midrange would be a good retrofit to pretty much any 15" cab.
