Carvin R600 head

I've never been able to make this thing work with my upright...I was wondering if anybody else had this head and is able to make it work.

I have the older Carvin PB500 head as my cheapie back up head. It is a stereo 250x2 at 4 ohms. I am guessing it is basically the same thing as your Carvin. The only way for me to get a good sound with DB was using a pre amp into the effect return. (I used a SOLSTICE) Actually even for electric bass I found I had to by pass the Carvin Pre amp and EQ to get a sound I liked. What pickup & Cabinet are you using for DB?

A fishman FC and a Carvin 2 X 10. I used to run a fishman pre amp out of the effects loop, but it still sounded like garbage.

If you are not using the Carvin's pre amp you have to come to the conclusion that it is either the speaker cabinet or the pickup. everything in the chain matters. Does it sound better with your full circle or the Genz Benz 210, Hartke 112 ?

On a couple of occasions when opening for another act I've had to use the RB600 head and Hartke 4X10 cab of the EB player for the other band. I have to say, I was surprised at how good it sounded with my UB. I use a Fishman Platinum Pro preamp and a Rev Solo 1 pick-up. Of course, in this case I'm playing a fairly agressive bass style with an ukulele band. YMMV (Any other Uke players out there?)
