Clarus headroom?

Just curious...it hasn't happened yet, but what does the Clarus (series 3) sound like when it runs out of headroom? Is it a nasty squawk right away or just gentle fuzziness at first?

I remember a couple of older amps (Eden, Trace) that made electric zapping sounds when they clipped. Hoping not to hear that again

The sound of any solid state amp going into hard clipping is not pleasant and is something that is best avoided.

I'm not sure I understand the question, but if the amp is clipping, you want to hear it as distinctly as possible so that you can turn down, adjust the EQ, or do something to make it stop. If the amp sounds nice when it's clipping, then you're just asking to blow a driver.
