clarus+

Hello

I'm a happy new owner of the new clarus+. The first impression is the good finition and good looking of this head

But there's some details i don't understand ; why those littles buttons are so small we don't even know if it is on or off (notch high pass filter, mute... )
i have the coda IIa, and with four hours of function he was never getting hot. so i always install my preamp on it
now with just half an hour the new clarus+ amp is getting very hot is there any reason , I plug it in the same cabinets (EA wizzy), same cables, and at the same level of power

also the noise of my wizzy are very audible even the master and inputs at 0 ? never the same with my coda 2

anyone had the same statement ? Acoustic image have done somethings new in those new amps ? any suggestion ?

Besides this all seems to be very cool and powerful.

Ps i use a usual cable for the supply power. the cable of acoustic image from usa have some tumefaction on it; but i live in France and haven't the adapter for the french socket, so i can't use it. maybe it's the problem ?

Pierre

Hi pierre.

Please do not use your amp without its proper power cable, and please make sure that your amp's power supply voltage switch is set correctly.

Also, please contact Acoustic Image re your amp overheating. It should NOT be getting too hot:

Sales and dealer inquiries: sales@acousticimg.com
General information: info@acousticimg.com

Merci.

Also, you may get more responses to this thread if you change its title to something like:

'Clarus+ overheating!'

pierre

the amp should not heat up like that. my new Focus III did heat up on a gig and was unusable.

however, Acoustic Image has excellent customer service. they replaced my Focus III when it overheated by sending me a new power amp which i could install.

as for the buttons, well... yeah you have to get used to eye-balling them.

Rick says it is all normal
"The Clarus+ will run hotter than the SIIa Coda. Higher power in the same size chassis means that it will run hotter.

The different power won't make a difference."
I think it's good to know it, It won't be possible more to put my preamp on my amp i will survive

the tumefaction is a ferrite bead it is just a filter that can help with some interference. maybe it is the cause of my little buzz.

One other question about the input signal. I can't have any acoustic sound if i turn the input button over 9h30

Rick from AI think it may a be a good idea to use an attenuator like this http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MAX10/
I just read the thread of the clarus III and chris fitzgerald told the same .

Have someone try to use an attenuator ?? to improve the sound and maybe the power

For the equalization with the wizzy 10 the most natural sound i find with my full circle p/u : bass 12h mid 9h treble 12h and HPF 11-13h
