Contra Carrying Case - the hard case ain't great

I bought a used Contra EX and a Clarus 2R Series III - works great, sounds great, but the case was the less expensive of the two I've seen for the Contra, the hard case, and mine came with the handle already ripped out of the top.

After schlepping it a couple of times, I decided to take a look into fixing it, and I'm not encouraged. The top of the hard case is already starting to splinter (if that's the right word).

I'm thinking of just chucking (selling?) this one and getting a padded gig bag case, which is what I had for my old Contra.

Opinions on whether it's worth the effort to fix the hard Contra case?

Thanks.

Steve,
I hate the padded gig bag case! Unless you are using the latest model Contra EX, the cloth covered units are difficult to get in and out. I would suggest that you look into doing something simular to what I did to resolve my problem.
I mounted my hard shell case on a fold up two wheel cart, that I got for about $15 at "Big Lots", and found this makes my movements to and from gigs very easy. I can carry in my 7/8 upright on one sholder, then put my stool on top of my portable AI hard shell case and go into most places in one trip!
And, if you go this way, you probally wouldn't have to do alot of serious repair to your existing case. You'd already have a handle on the two wheel cart, so you wouldn't really need one on the top of the AI case (but it is sometimes handy).

I use a 14" hard tom case for my Contra Series II. Works fine, padded with neoprene, and has a bit of extra room for cables, etc.
