Do any Contra users use the Contra EX extension cabinet with their combos? The Contra has taken a little while to win me over (surprisingly), but I think that it may have finally succeeded. However, I do play some big rooms and corporate events around Dallas, and with a pretty loud octet my stage volume can get pretty anemic when I'm only using the Contra combo. With a good monitor setup this might not be as much of an issue, but that's not always readily available at these gigs.
I am interested in grabbing the extension cabinet for these type of gigs, and I am curious to hear about others' experiences with this setup. Has anyone used this setup with the electric bass for a rock/louder gig?

I have the Contra with the ext. cab. I use a Fodera 5 string and a URB on my gigs. The ext. cab makes a big difference in volume and presence.

I'm planning to audition a Contra next month, and part of my decision is going to depend on how good it sounds with my electric bass.
Accordingly, I have a Hartke 2x10 that I'd like to try as an extension speaker with the Contra. There should be more than enough wattage to make my Jazz bass heard (I currently use a GK 800RB head).
How loud are the gigs that you use the Contra extension speaker? Are you able to get good lows and headroom with your Fodera (jealous drool... )? For what style of music is that setup primarily used? Do you ever play any rock gigs?
Danny, I don't play rock gigs so to speak. I play in a 70's-80's retro, old school funk, disco. So its not a soft jazz gig and the Contra and ext cab do great.
The bass really fills the room and it's not a mushy sound. I dial everything pretty much flat and use the pre-amp on the bass for adjustment. like I said, unless you are playing power rock, you will be pleased and amazed.
