Digital Pre Amps with Pre sets and A/B Switching

Here's some food for thought and discussion. Since many amplifier designers don't build two channel amplifiers, would there be a market for a single channel amplifier with a digital pre amp that had two inputs where all the things needed for doubling were included in programmable presets. Instead of having two separate pre amp channels the amp could switch between two pre sets one that had variable phase, variable low cut, variable notch, variable input load, and even pre amp voicing and a second set for electric bass. My guess is that it would be very expensive and the market would be two small to build it, just a thought. This certainly makes the EA Doubler and the Claris+ look better and better.

Multi-fx pedals do this. Just don't use the effects. Use them just for EQ and volume.
And they have great pricing.
Put one in a head and label it for Double Bass and crank the prices up.

Can you give examples?
What do you use as a multi-fx pedal?

One the cheap...you could take a Boss A/B pedal and add a Boss EQ pedal (7 band graphic + volume) and a HPF/Pre before the DB.

If your electric bass had an on-board preamp, then you'd be all set.

On my gigs doubling with electric bass and EUB, I've just used a compromise one-size-fits-both EQ and the Boss A/B pedal and it's been okay.

Tornado,
I would have never considered this simple and elegant solution. Got a question though? Since the Boss has a 1 megohm input impedance and the HPF is 10 megohm I'm not sure what you come up with for the input impedance? Maybe one of our talkbass techies can chime in and figure this out. Could be that the HPF just raises every thing to 10 Megohms.
This setup would only cost about $250.00 to add a switchable second channel to any single channel amp.

there are lots of digital EQ's out there that have lots of programability, and would probably work well as a pre with LOTS of presets. unlimited EQ bands, graphic, parametric, hi or lo filters, shelving, whatever you want.
