| I have an AI Coda R series III. Haven't tried it with a double bass but it sounds awesome with my 5 string Turner Renaissance bronze wrap/nylon string piezo equipped bass. Plenty of power and features, the notch filter is particularly helpful, and if I use it in conjunction with my 4 ohm Eden 4x10 cabinet it is incredibly loud. The two channels allow you to mic your upright as well as run a pickup through the amp and have control over both sources.
Acoustic Image just came out with updated amps. The new Codas and Contras now feature double the power (800 watts) and the head can be removed from the combo cabinet in case you want to use it with another cabinet. They also just came out with a new combo amp that has the a down firing 10 and a front firing 10 (plus 1" tweeter) instead of the down firing 10 and front firing 5" speaker (plus 1" tweeter) found in the Contra and Coda models. The new 2x10 model ups the weight of the combo from 20 lbs to 28 lbs but that is still incredibly light and portable. My Coda is tiny at 12'' tall and the 20 lbs it weighs is nothing to carry with one hand. The AI amps were designed by an upright bass player who wasn't happy with the available amplification choices. You should definitely check them out before making a final decision. Last time I checked they were selling the older models at a discount and taking discounted orders for the new series.
