Feedback issue with David Gage pickup

Hi all-

Since having my action adjusted a while ago -which ended up being a lot more involved than I had anticipated, the bridge, sound post and of course the Gage all had to be reseated- the thresh hold for feedback seems to have gotten a lot lower.

This, of course, has always happened if I cranked up the amp too much, but it really seems to be happening at a lot lower volumes than before I'd gotten it adjusted. Like it's almost gotten to the point where I can't play with a big band.

Has anyone had feedback issues caused or made worse by the pickup placement of a Gage? I'm wondering if getting it adjusted again might help?

Any other comments or experiences along these lines to share?

(And by the way- I don't set the amp where it throws right into the back of my bass or anything, so I don't think that's it.)

Did the repositioning and adjustment of the post increase the volume of the instrument acoustically. If volume of the bass has increased as a result of the post, then I suppose it might possibly effect the feedback if if occurs earlier because you're getting more volume from the source. Hard to say

Well, if it worked before, then something has obviously changed. Personally, I never had any luck using a Realist in a big band setting anyway. Just my take

Small changes in the placement of the Realists element can yield different tone quality, but I've never had it change the output of the pickup itself, Realists can and sometimes do wear out after about 4 years, but in those cases (at least in my experience) the pickups volume would gradually decrease, until it became softer and softer.

I'd check the pickup's placement under the E foot of the bridge and compare it with the Realist doc on David Gage's sight, to see if it's positioned correctly.
Of course, it isn't really all that difficult to tell if it's in the correct position, as it sits under the E Foot equally spaced from side to side, and bottom to top.
