Focus 2R stopped working

My brand new focus 2R has stopped working. I bought it a few months ago, but have used it precious little since then. A few weeks ago I couldn't get anything out of channel 1 (channel 2 still worked), but some jiggling in the input jack brought it back to life; now, after a couple of reappearances of the problem, again solved by jiggling, there is no life whatsoever in either channel, and no amount of jiggling (so far?) produces any result. Cranking up the master produces a hiss from the speaker, so my guess is that the problem is in the gain stage? I'm not fuming, because I'm just at home and not depending on the thing professionally at the moment, but still.

Did I mention that the thing is brand new? Expensive amp to be needing jiggling. I haven't called the company yet, but will do so shortly. I understand that the customer service is great, but I live in denmark, so the prospect of sending it over there is massively inconvenient at best.

Anyone had this happen, or have any advice?

That's a bummer. But I'm sure AI will make it right if you contact them.

Call acoustic image before you go to the post office.

It sounds like a simple fix that a good soldering will cure. Just double check with the guys at acoustic image, because if it is a simple fix they will work with you over the phone before they have you send it to the states.

it sounds like a loose jack... it can happen and even with great companies, it's possible for something to slip past the QA people. It's also possible it happened in transit from the states to Denmark.

Hopefully they can recommend a local repair shop to have the work done, shipping it could be timely process.

scratch that

okay, channel 2 back to life now (no signal from the bass ), but channel 1 still suffering from the jiggle problem. Broken solder in the input jack sounds right to me. I will get on the phone to AI.

Thanks for the replies.
