GK 112MBX vs EA Wizzy 10 cabs comparison

Has anyone compared these cabs in terms of tone and useful volume? I use a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 amp and play electric 4-string but figured i would get more helpful and relevant information on the DB forum. Thanks.

J199,

The GK MBX cabinet was one of the lightest weight bass cabinets out there until the Crazy 8 cabinets were developed. It gets a decent sound for Double Bass, very similar to the little GK MBS and MBE cabinets that it was designed to compliment. The Wizzy 10 has a broader tonal spectrum. I think the MBX works best paired with the MBE or MBS as an extension cabinet especially if you intend to use it with electric. Just my take. The Shuttle 3.0 10T Cabinet is matched to your 3.0 head.

When I have the luxury of being able to bring my own amp to a gig (not to mention the luxury of having a gig), I still use the MBX with a Walter Woods MI 100-8. I think it gets the sound I need just fine. The couple times I used it with Fender bass were OK, too, but they were only moderately loud situations. So there.
