GK MB2-500 for DB?

Hi, I am thinking about selling my Ampeg SVT-CL and going with either a GK MB2-500 or an EA Micro Doubler.

The GK is about $200 more than the EA.

I was just wondering what you guys though about this amp for Double Bass?? I would be playing slab gigs with it mostly, but I want to be able to use it for DB aswell.

I realise the EA would be a more suitable choice for DB (given that it has all the extra DB specific features) but I am stuck between the two because I really love the GK sound.

Thanks !

It's A Nice Little Amp

TJF,
I'd probably take a look at the threads over on the Bass Guitar side and talk to some of the guys who have bought this amp. It's gone through several revisions and I'd want to have the skinny on that before I purchased one. I played through it at our local Guitar Center. It has a very nice warm sound and plenty of power. They have recently reduced the list price from $599.00 to $499.00. I have to wonder what that's all about as well. The Doubler has some really nice features that the GK doesn't offer. The Notch Filter, Phase Control, and High Pass Filter are all variable. Those are very nice for feedback. Additionally, it has two channels, and a mic input. Lastly, it has different EQ on the two channels. That's a real plus. Since I play both DB and EB I'd go with the Doubler. If I only played EB the GK's a good choice.
