HELP A FELLOW BASSIST!!!

Hey guys-
I have a K&K bass max on my bass runing through a Hartke 3500a and an Aguilar 12" cab. I like the sound that i'm getting but the volume is much too low, even with the volume on my amp at full blast. I don't have a pre-amp and I have a feeling that this may be the problem. If you have any pre-amp or general suggestions.

Peace,
Greg O

P.S.
I was thinking about a K&K pre-amp posiibly the power pack.

Something isn't right here. From my experience, the K&K Bass Max is one of the higher output pickups and isn't very fussy about input impedance, so you really shouldn't need a preamp. Make sure the pickup fits properly in the bridge's wing slot. It shouldn't be too loose are too snug. Either condition will effect the sound and output level adversely. The fit shouldn't be so snug that the pickup is very difficult to install. At the same time it shouldn't be so loose that you can easily pull it out of the wing slot. If you are satisfied that your Bass Max fits properly, I'd contact K&K.

Yeah, that should be pretty darn loud, I'd check/swap all cables, etc., try an alternate input source/amp/speaker, something in the chain isn't working properly.

k&k is quite hot and you should hear enough of sound, even without a preamp.
but you find it too low where ? when you play with a band ? during rehearsals and stages ? and what kind of music ?

amp head?

I own an Aggie 1x12 cab. From my experience, those things aren't the most efficient cabinets around (i.e. they EAT POWER). I remember my first gig with it trying to run a 300 watt Eden head in a concert hall and just getting BURIED. If all else fails, try a more powerful head. That cabinet likes wattage!
