Hubert Liegeois (The French Walter Woods?)

I just happened to be surfing Jonas Lohse's wonderful DoubleBass Guide and found a picture of Hubert Liegeois's DBA 200. What an interesting
looking amp! It's very reminiscent of the older Walter Woods models' but has a DI for each channel. I remembered that Liegois had a web site called
Hubert's Tube Amps, where he discussed Walters designs at length. I still have a printout of those pages where Liegeois critiqued some of the componets used in the earlier Woods amps. Interesting, considering our recent threads on Walter repairs. Does anyone have one of these amps? Are they still available? The link on Lohse's web page is defunct.

Ric

Power rating: 200W@4 Ohms

A Woods That I Haven't Seen!

I thought that I'd seen just about every one one Walter's Amps,
including the original Ice Cream Sandwich and the Four Channel for Electronic Drums. I didn't realize that he ever built one with two DI's. Very Cool. Any update on the NM 208? I'm starting to have dreams about this cabinet.

I traded the WW to Steve Azola for a Bug Bass II. The NM's first set of drivers were not what John was looking for, so he is expecting some new drivers any day now. The TL cabinet is designed and built - it's just the drivers.

Does Mr. Leigeois have a website anymore?
All the links leading to his webpage are no longer active.
Where can he be reached?

You gotta love someone who takes that much time
checkin' out the drivers for a new cabinet. Must be why
EA Cab's sound so great!

I've contacted Hubert via e-mail, and got this answer:

Quote:
Hallo Jonas, wie gehts?
My website does'nt work because Francenet was bought by British Telecom and BT decide to stop the personal websites.
Too bad because i have just added some new informations and pictures about WW and D'Avallon amps...
I have now to find a durable internet provider to put my site on.
I have also to buy a domain for the Lieg amps site.
My address at Francenet still works but it is not very useful today. I have a new one: hubert.liegeois@laposte.net
For info, i send you the documentation of my amp:
I will send you the new website address when its ok
Thanks,
Hubert

Olivier Lavergne was kind enough to send me the .pdf. That's what I call a friendly world community! Thanks to Ric Vice for finding this in the first place...

I Like This Design

Hubert's a very nice gentleman. He is a player as well as a
electronic engineer. At one time he had a website where he
"critiqued" the various Walter Woods designs and from his
posts above he will probably get it running agian. Interesting Stuff! The amp is a very nice design. Unfortunately, the current Euro to US currency conversion raises the price of the amp significantly, and I would guess that you would also have to pay import duties on the amp as well. Now I understand how jaydbass in Scotland feels about U.S. exports!

Ric

P.S. I'l be watching the exchange rates!

Thanks to macmrkt for posting the Lieg PDF
