I need amplification advice1

I'm new to the double bass and what's best to amplify a double bass?

That's a tough question because there are so many different opinions and answers. I suggest looking through the threads in this forum. You'll see that a few particular solutions and ideas crop up pretty regularly. Also, the newbie links are pretty comprehensive.

If you're brand spankin new to the bass, it might be a while before you are performing, in which case you can take your time. The most important thing is to get the best possible sound out of your bass without an amp. This involves both right- and left-hand technique, and the condition that your instrument is in.

If you're in a band, you might benefit from persuading them to rehearse at a volume where you don't need amplification. This will help you improve your playing and the band's musicianship.

Since, I'm assuming you don't yet have a amplifier and pickup, it would be nice to know what kind of bass you have and what kind of music you play. That will help us narrow things down.
