I'm looking for some replacement pick ups for my Jazz bass.
Any thoughts on what's REALLY good?

High end: Schertler Dyn-B, very microphone like, but expensive (around $600)

Lower price: I like the K & K Bass max, like an Underwood with a more hi-fi sound. Some people like the Fishman, but I had 3, they always seemed too fragile, although my teacher has had his for over 10 years.

I'm assuming you're talking a jazz doublebass, and not a Fender. If not, thanks for wasting my time; now go post it on the BASS GUITAR board...........
;-)

Sorry Monte, I totally wasted your time. I DID mean FENDER jazz bass pickups.
I'm new to this TALKBASS so please forgive me. Thanks for the info on acoustic bass though.
