Oh, Baby

I'm doing some tracks over the last few days. There's a Neumann U87 up near the end of the fingerboard, and an AEA R84 Ribbon mic on the floor near the tailpiece. Well-broken in Evahs on my La Scala.

Holy crap.... life is good. I can't wait to get back in there.

There's nothing like a set of headphones with your instrument in them sounding <just> how you hear it in your head. That's good fun right there!

That's what it was today.... and it doesn't happen all that often! I wasn't really sure why I started this thread, except to bask in the sonic afterglow.

Plus, I guess it's an appreciation of a job well done, which is certainly the case with both of these microphone manufacturers.

Its good to mention the times that it DOES work out, as well as the bad gigs - keeps things nicely balanced. As long as its not bragging or rubbing it in about the weather, its fine with me.

That's a tried and true combination! I've used the 87 in combo with an old RCA ribbon the same way. Heavenly. Please post on how it works in the final mix, when you get a chance.
