Pairing my NL210?

Hey guys I was just reading a thread which had allot of discussion about the CXL112 and it has me thinking. I have been looking to pair my NL210 with a second cabinet.

I will give you some background my usual set up is a Glockenklang HeartRock or AI Focus 2rIII with my NL210.

For louder gigs where I am doubling I sometimes need a little more then what a single NL210 can handle. I have been very recently been using a Sadowsky SA410 cabinet, it sounds suprisingly nice for DB and EB, although it lacks a little bottom end for EB. For loud EB only gigs I have been using a Epi NYC212, it's a little warmer in the low end for the old school R&B thing but if I do double with it I have to use the Focus to cut lows. As you can imagine either of these BIG cabinets are very difficult to haul around with a DB and EB, it makes for a long night.

I am hoping to pair my NL210 with an additional cabinet, most likely another NL210 or CXL112. I am not sure what the pros and cons will be and if either might allow me to dump my 2 big cabinets (Epi and Sad).

Thanks in advance for any knowledge on these pairings.

Pete

Sounds like Mike Dimin's cabinet set up. I guess that's one endorsement. Big rig all right.

I am not familiar with him, I'll have to do some homework.

It looks as if he's an all electric player any thoughts on how that speaker combination may work for DB and EB?

I've had great results pairing a NL210 and CXL112. To me they together produce a much more complete sonic picture than as stand alone cabs.

Thanks for the input. before I go and drop the $ sight unseen I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with 2 NL210s and what differences might be.

Thanks.

I'd like to ressurect this thread...

Has anyone had a chance to pair their NL-210 with another NL-210 or a CXL-112L?

I currently use the NL-210 by itself (along with a AI Focus 1, series III head). But, I'm looking for a little more volume for loud blues gigs...

i've been pairing what you're thinking of up until today, when my NL210 shipped to a fellow tber.

(i've got my CXL-112L up for sale too.)

together they do paint a more 'complete' picture. they both have a great low end, especially considering their size... but they have different sonic footprints.

the NL210 seemed to carry more of the outer extremes of the spectrum. the cxl112 filled in midrange info that to my ears was a bit 'missing', but truthfully probably only because i had the cxl first and added the NL later.

i used to swap off both cabs for smaller gigs, and take both for bigger gigs. i could never decide which i liked better -- the NL seemed to handle more volume, but when i turned up the cxl it really 'spoke' too.

(in any case, see link to my 'for sale' thread above & pm me if you're interested!)

klorence, great info, thanks for sharing.

I've found that the NL-210 can create a very realistic if not somewhat emphasized low end. However I've had to sacrifice quite a bit of that nice low end for mid range just to get enough stage volume to hear myself (and to circumvent low end feedback issues).

The Acoustic Image Focus EQ (simple but effective) makes this tone shaping possible.

We'd all save money if guitarists were not so egotistical!

I'll consider you're CXL-112L...

yes - and i love the low end on the NL, so i hated to cut it back just to get more "apparent" volume. the CXL "puts back" that apparent volume, but it's real volume! neither cab gets pushed too hard outside the boundaries of their strengths. a nice combination overall.

re: the CXL112 - you can PM me if you'd like.. i really like these cabs, and am toying with keeping it & combining it with whatever combo i decide on. it's really an amazing little cab. but my gig situation really doesn't warrant keeping it.
