Question about pickups

Hello all,

I was having a conversation with a DB player the other day and he was asking me about pickups for DBs. I can't remember the ones I have recorded so I couldn't offer him much advise. Something he asked me was are there pickups that help even out the sound of a bass.

I think what he was meaning was if his bass had over-resonant notes that the pickup wouldn't over emphasize them. My comment on it was: I don't think so. I couldn't see why that would even be an asset for a pickup. I told him if he got a piezo surface mount one, he may be able to mount it in an area where it wasn't as noticeable. I also said if you know your bass well, you can adjust your playing so that over resonance would be less noticeable. That it what I do: Adjust my playing.

Curious... are there certain pickups that aid in taming? Sitting here thinking, I thought maybe a bridge pickup would be less prone to since it is picking up a more direct sound from the strings. I dunno... What do you think?

I told him about this site. Hopefully he joins us and posts here in this thread.

My CCB tends to resonate on the open D string acoustically, but it is not apparent when using a Full Circle through an fdeck to my combo amp.
