Quick Full Circle question

Thinking of getting a full circle but one thing is confusing me: I've heard that you adjust the sound by turning the wheel adjusters in the bridge...

...but wouldn't this raise/lower your string height??

The amount of turning required to adjust the tone (about a quarter turn) has a negligible effect on string height.

The sound does change a little depending on the relationship of the elements to the bridge. It's a subtle thing that turning a 1/4 turn one way or the other will reveal. On those wheels you'd barely notice that difference in bridge height. It's also not an adjustment you make that would change. You find the best sound and leave it. It's not going to sound good in one spot one day and another the next. That sweet spot remains in the same place pretty much regardless of how high or low the action is. Just be sure to orient the wire in the same place and a single turn is about 1 mm at the fingerboard end.

Thanks lads,

Thought the threads might be pretty tight alright - I don't have an adjustable bridge so wasn't too sure - and it's good to know you don't have to be constantly messing with them either

Just 1 more question - would I need a preamp for the full circle?

(I play into an EA iamp500 - dont know if this helps??) I hear Fishman generally require preamps.

Try it without first and see how it goes.

I've never found a preamp necessary with the FC.

I tried using my K&K preamp with the FC into my AI Contra, but found it unnecessary; boosted the signal, but didn't sound as warm as going straight in.

I use an FC into an iAmp 500 and it works great.

In my experience, the rotational adjustment causes a minimal change in sound. I've tried the FC with and without preamp (Merchant Vertical Bass, Oblis) into a GK MB 150 with no difference in sound as far as I and the others in the band could tell.
I've also run the VB into the AI Clarus SLR/WZ 110 with the same results re the pickup rotation. No preamp needed w/ AI. With my LaScala (EPs) at home, I could tell a tiny difference upon pickup rotation, but not enough to bother with. Same w/ preamp test: no discernible difference.
The FC is very amp friendly; plug in and play.
