REALIST PICK UP

I play a single shadow on my double Bass, it`s under the E-String.....but sound is not great...I thing not enough PUNCH,to woody, and feedback problems.
Now I decide tu buy a Realist Pick Up, people say to me, that pick up sounds much warmer and deeper than the shadow and it`s not so dangerous to feedback.
I play Rockabilly...what do you think? Is it the best for me to buy the Realist?

I supposed that you could try out, but my suspicion is that it won't
be able to keep up with the volume levels that you probably need. IMHO
the Realist sounds best at moderate volume levels. When you try and push the pickup it just won't do the trick. I think that I'd go with either a K&K Bass Max or the Full Circle.

I use a Realist and a mic for jazz. Great sound. But I have my other bass fitted with an Underwood for volume. I find the Realist feeds back pretty easily if things get loud. Muting the afterlength of the string helps and so does the nerf ball behind the tailpiece but the pickup is not great for high volumes.

I just played two gigs with a realist into an Avalon u5. At both gigs my trio was the opening act for another band, and at both gigs I got really strong compliments on my tone, from a bunch of different players.

When I listen to the realist, I hear all the things that are different from my acoustic sound. But apparently the tone is knocking people out when I play live.

I've concluded about the realist what several other people have said here--that's it's not "my bass only louder" but it's a very effective, pleasing tone for live work

I've found the realist to work very well in loud environments. Keep though in mind that you need a lot of good amplification to get good punch and a clear response.

(Who found out that the biggest problems when playing loud is generally low string height and a bright sounding bass (instrument, strings and pu)

i love my realist, i use it for jazz and bowed accoustic stuff, and its great, no feedback. i highly reccomend it if you want to spend the cash

I have a realist, but I recently made one of these to compare the two. The sound just about the same to me. If there is any difference, it isn't a $150 difference to me.
