nice....I'm so glad you posted this. I have a realist and was considering how a minimark would hold up with a DB.

how does micromark with DB? I've been considering getting something way smaller than what I have, but still loud enough to handle a resteraunt jazz gig or some smaller gigs. I figured the micromark wouldnt handle it, but I've never tried? What kind of gigs/styles do you used with the micromark and how does it sound?

i use it for about 1 year now on 99% of my gigs.
i play mostly in a group with sax/fl/cl, vl, vlc, p, db.

the micromark has to sit on the floor to get enough bass. it sits right behind the bass most of the time, so the amp blends with the bass. the ampsound on it´s own is not very variable because it has only volume and that VPF filter. i found a position of the VPF where the amp sound is ok , blended with the bass it sounds so, that many people don´t realize that i use an amp. (+because they can´t see it )

the sound from the headphone-out is very good. (i use a dyn-b on my main bass, FC sounds also very good), never checked the DI, but i think it sounds ok too.

i use the amp in rooms up to 1000 people and am always very happy with it. but this is always (louder, but) acoustic music i play, and the large rooms are mostly goood-sounding concert-halls.

lately i used it in a trio with a quite drummer and missed no volume at all.

and i´m very happy with the small size and weight of the micromark, when i come home from the gig, going up two stairs late at night, with my complete equipment in one trip.

before buying i compared it with using an A/B-switch with my GKMB150 and was very surprised with the volume.

i think you have to be careful to what you compare this amp, and what you expect from it, but for me and my (maybe special) needs it´s perfect

is this with the amp on its own or amp + PA? Its hard to believe such a tiny amp could be loud enough for that on its own. If thats on its own though, then I'm sure it would be just fine for smaller resteraunt gigs that I would need it for. Thanks

no PA. i would not say its a loud amp, but loud enough for me. (with a loud bass)

what kind of restaurant gig do you have?
what are the other instruments?
maybe you could borrow a mikromark for one gig to check it?

Edit: check your PM

Thumbs up

My Micromark, after a year of varied gigs and rehearsals, has continued to be exactly what I need for 99% of all my background jazz gigs. Usually, I play with a guitarist playing an archtop through a Fender Blues Jr.

I'm definitely referring to "background" or "cocktail" type music. The Micromark is great for small-size rooms or medium-size rooms where people can adjust the volume level by walking closer to the band. It is not for gigs where the bass player would be expected to have a beefy sound to compete with mic'ed piano and drums, the kind the crowd would have to shout to be heard over.

I posted this a little over a year ago: Markbass Minimark

The issues I was having with feedback at that time were due to my soundpost having been re-installed poorly when it fell one time. That's been fixed, plus I now use the Full Circle, and have absolutely no negative comments whatsoever. (I love the Full Circle, it's much more consistent and better for high-register soloing than the Realist!)
