Realist socket mount causing buzz

Hi everyone.

I've got a realist pickup on my 1880 german and I've noticed that the mount (behind the tailpiece) causes buzzing. If I twist the mount the buzz sometimes stops. Anyone have any ideas or reccomendations?

Cheers
John

my genius bass guy (mark carlson) gave me a little plastic nut and bolt to use in mounting my realist instead of the usual on the string thing. i put it through one of the holes in the tail piece where there strings go through. it's a great idea and if i had thought of it sooner i would have started calling him markgyver.

it's not tangled up with the strings, which is nice, and i don't have any buzzing....he's on here some where and i'm pretty sure he got it at a hardware store. it might help.

good luck.

I am not sure how the jack mounts on the Realist, but my universal pickup jack mounting scheme involves wrapping the jack with a segment of an old bicycle innertube, and then strapping it to the tailpiece with one of those Velcro cable wraps.

check out the phot on the back of esperanza spalding's latest release. It got me thinking I should check it out.

It's the jack, wrapped in acoustic foam, zip tied with a black zip tie to the tail piece on the G string side.

Seems like a great solution.
