Question Full Circle Install.

Hmmm...if the adjusters are the same size, how hard is it to fit the Full Circle? What's the best way to keep tension on the top so that the sound post doesn't fall while the strings are de-tensioned?

I ask because I have had a FS waiting in the wings for my new bass, and I just found/purchased it (Marco's Juzek ). I'll probably take it to my Luthier (Lisa Gass), but if it's a fairly simple job I'd rather not bother her with it - like all the good luthiers out there she's crazy busy.

howdy

I just installed the FC on my bass and am happy I did. If you're bridge already has adjusters then do it by yourself I say. The thing is to make sure the FC adjusters and the old ones are the same size. If they're aluminum chances are they're standard as opposed to metric. If they're wood then well, you might have to pay your luthier after all.
I just took my bridge off and installed the wheels no problem. Except that the post fell- it is kind of humid- so I had to take it to Gage's anyway for them to put it back up. That being said maybe you could have a friend push down on the top some just in case.
But 100 clams to install the FC doesn't make sense unless there's something else going on. Cheers

Is it normal for the soundpost to just fall over when the strings are off? I've never had that happen on an instrument before...

dude

It shouldn't happen it's just real humid up here in nyc. When Mike put the post back in he had the detuned D holding the bridge in place and that was enough for it to fit.

Arnold Schnitzer uses a small canvas bag of buckshot and places it on the top over the soundpost area. I've used a jar filled w/ coins with a thick piece of towel under it and it worked just fine. Just be careful not to knock it over. How about a thick (uninflated) balloon filled w/small fishing weights?
