Revolution solo grounding problem

I have had the Revolution solo now for almost two years, and never had a problem. Today in rehearsal had a grounding issue that was causing feedback. I thought it was a bad cable, but switched cables (and amplifiers), and still did the same thing. Also, when I simply touch the rca to 1/4" jack, it cancels out the feedback. Short of replacing the pickup (something I've been wanting to do, but am short on cash to do so), what can I do to fix this. I have a concert on wednesday, and need this cleared up by then, so any help would be great.

Contact Upton Bass and speak with Gary or Eric. Their customer service is excellent. 860-536-7555

+1.

There was a run of pickups with this problem apparently. My first RS had the same problem and the guys at Upton replaced it right quick. Got it back and it still works great.

Chops...are you the same mega slapper from the KDB booths at the NAMM shows?

Fixing by Wednesday... ...I guess you can attach a grounding wire looped around the RCA jack and tie it into your strings...this is similar to what Fishman used to provide. This maybe your only help for a quick fix.

Is it just this one loaction that gave a problem? If you plug in at your regular location, is it fine then? If so, perhaps the outlet is poor or there are neon or flourecent lights where you were playing?

Other than that...you can send it to me to look at. Two years and never a problem...then all of a sudden a problem...hardly sounds like a mfg problem to me...and the bad batch Hiddy reffered to was about 5 to 10 pickups about 2 years ago. Perhaps the cable got tugged coming out of the case or something? Who knows...and it doesn't really matter as I don't care to place blame here...send it back to me and we can trouble shoot it and get it back to you. The main goal here is getting you playing for your concert!

I have bought a rev solo II for 5 weeks now and seem to be having the same problem (although I never worried about it!). When I connect my rsII into my gk1001rbII through my Schroeder1210 in my bedroom I get a hum coming from the speaker (I guess there is no ground connection in my bedroom) but if I connect the amp on a kitchen outlet I can put my amp really LOUD without knowing if it is on! After making this test I presumed that everything was allright with my pickup and that the only thing I have to worry when playing live is ground connection. Is there any solution in case I have to play in places without ground connection? (besides the wire from rca to strings) Thanks!

Hey David...well, the RS2 uses a great coaxial cable, shileding around the piezo, and pro audio shielded connectors...so just about everything is being done to keep it hummmmmmm free that we can do. I am talking to someone now about anything else that could be done...but I think it's pretty bullet proof as is.

Fishman used to include a grounding wire...but now they don't have to as they mount the jack on a metal clip that goes on your strings. If the clip is on the metal of your strings...and not the thread...then as long as your hands are on the strings even a dirty ungrounded plug in a room full of neon signs would prevent it from buzzing...that is until you take your hand off the strings.

I would say a length of pliable wire in your gig bag could be a good idea with ANY pickup if you are playing out a lot and in unfamiliar places...that way you never get caught off guard.
