Ron Carter uses a Clarus 1

I guess this is for true bass dorks only, but did anyone see the new Bass Player where it's written that RC uses an Acoustic Image Clarus 1 and an Epifani UL-110. I'm wondering, does he still endorse the GK MB?

Jake

Ron Carter played in St. Louis and he was using a Crate Amplifier provided by St. Louis Music. His sound was incredible. So, Although the greats will sound "better" through a AI, EA or Walter Woods they don't really depend on a specific amplifier for their tone quality and articulation. Ron Carter dosen't have to rely on any particular amp the "magic" is in the fingers. He hasn't appeared in a GK add for a while, although Charlie Hayden still does with Flea.

Yeah. I posted about it in this thread. I thought it was interesting too.

Just to build a little on what Ric said, Ron Carter and many others I presume can't even travel w/ their own basses anymore. The latest BP has an article where he says he basically uses rentals for out of town gigs, since the airlines make it nearly impossible for him to travel w/ his own bass. I know this is old news, and many TBers who travel are faced with the same issue and have been for some time. But it kind of reinforces what Ric said about not relying on a particular amp (or bass it seems) to try and make a good sound.

One other notable, and this kinda made my jaw drop - Ron Carter is now 70 years old.
