schertler Pre-A-3 or fishman pro eq

Hey everyone, has anyone had any experience with these 2 pre amps? I'm using a stat b with the stat pre that came with it. I recently got a fishman pro eq platinum and I find that the depth knob helps get rid of some feedback. Does the resonance knob on the pre a 3 work the same? It would be nice to just have one pre amp on stage instead of 2. I still have to use the stat pre to power the stat-b. is it worth the $400 bucks to upgrade to the Pre A 3? Any input would be great. Thanks.

The resonance knob on the Schertler Pre A3 is not a high pass filter - it cuts some specific frequency (something about 200Hz I think) which is the most prone to feedback. On this preamp you can also adjust treble and bass frequencies. I personally find very useful the possibility to cut the trebles.
The Fishman Platinum has a high pass filter (very usefull)and a graphic EQ (not extremelly usefull, in my opinion because you can not target the specific frequency you need). It also has a phase switch, which can be very usefull for most piezo pickups, maybe not so necessary for the Schertler pickup...

I use the PreIIA whish I think is almost the same as thew IIIA. The IIIA has supposedly more sophisticated electronics, but from the very technical description I read, I don't know if I'd actually hear a difference. The IIA has very good natural sound and simple but useful EQ. On the downside there's no internal battery (you must pack a wall wart), and it has only balanced output, which I find annoying since my amp has only balanced in. Nice number, though.

I carry around the Fishman. I don't always use it but it is a nice toolbox. The high pass filter is useful (though my AI has one too) and so is the phase switch for taming feedback. The other thing I really like about it is the eq can be setup either pre or post direct out. That means that you can help out a clueless sound guy by being able to tweak your eq on stage if they take a line.

fishman and feedback

I've got a Fishman BII (entry level?) preamp and have serious problems with feedback at higher volumes. Noticed comments about preamp controls helping with controlling feedback. Should I upgrade or switch brands/models to get rid of feedback?

You need something with a phase switch and an HPF. The Fishman Platinum Pro would do the trick. People also rave about FDeck's little magic box.
