Schroeder 1212 for DB ?

Hi All,

Let me open with a news... after a bit more than 2 years of Bass Guitar, I'm about to start my journey in the Double Bass world... I'm not committed yet, but close!

In the meantime, I'm looking for an additional cab for loud bass guitar gig to go with my Epifani 410UL. I'd not mind an other Epifani, but here in Europe they are very expensive and might go for a Schroeder 1212.

Since my potential imminent DB adventure, I'd like to choose a cab that would go well , say with my Markbass LMII, for DB (very far away ) gigs

Any experience with the Schroeder 1212 for Double Bass?

Thanks a lot, Paolo

I used a Schroeder 1212 for a number of years for both double bass and bass guitar. As I'm sure you're aware, it is a very efficient and very loud cabinet. While I liked it better for bass guitar, it was a perfectly fine cabinet for double bass as well, capable of putting out an incredible amount of volume. I ultimately sold this cabinet and replaced it with two Schroeder 1-12's since I found I didn't need the volume it could provide on very many occasions, and taking a single 12 to most DB gigs involved a lot less lifting. I also bought one of Jorg's 1-10 cabinets, the regular weight version, which has also worked very well for DB. You may want to consider one of the 1-12's or 1-10's since it would add a ton of volume to your other cabinet for bass guitar and still provide plenty of volume for almost all DB gigs. True confession--my main DB cabinet is an EA 110 and I have a second one if I need more volume or need to double. The incredibly light weight of this cabinet is magic. I drive all of my cabinets with either an Acoustic Image Focus Series III or an AI Clarus SL. I have kept all three of the Schroeder cabinets--the two 1-12's are in Los Angeles and the 1-10 is in Scotland where I'm now spending most of my time--and do not intend to sell of any of them.

I'm thinking also of the new Schroeder 15+L... that would be a guess my preference now...

I was converging towards the Schroeder 15+L complement my Epi 410 but I was offered a very good deal on a Schroeder 21015 as well as on Schroder 1210... both in light version...

SHould I take of of the 21015 and have two monster cabs (not my intention but it's really a good deal!) Should I go for the 1210L (it is a great deal but the discount seems a bit higher on 21015...)?

Big is not an appropriate adjective, I'd say it's instead HUGE !
