These are specs of EA Whizzy but weight of the Flite 112 cab. If this is true, than this one is the answer... Any opinion/experience?
Thanks!

This last cab weighs in the high 20 pound range and sounds fantastic with string bass. I use a Focus Series II amp to drive it and could't be happier. Like all Schroeder cabinets, it can get incredibly loud if you need it, but unlike the Schroeder cabs geared more for bass guitar, this one is incredibly smooth and even over the entire audio spectrum. It doesn't have the "edge" that the other cabs do--BTW this edge is what makes them incredible on a bandstand--and is not scooped and "poofy" sounding like some cabs are. If I need even more volume, I pair the new Schroeder with my original Mini12+ or with a ContraEX cabinet--both combinations sound wonderful. It is also relatively compact and easy to haul around. The closest cab I can compare it to are the Acme B-1's but with one BIG difference--it is super efficient.

Erik, how would you compare the Mini to Wizzy? I'm asking this question because lot of players on this forum have good experience with it, so up until now I was considering the Wizzy, but after reading your comments on the Mini and knowing that it's so light I might change my mind...
Thank you!

I'm sorry but I've never had a chance to hear the Wizzy so there is no way for me to compare. Sorry. My wife and I are spending the Summer in Scotland, and will be in Prague the week of June 21. Are you going to be playing anywhere where I can come see you.

I love this speaker more everytime I play it. Solo it doesn't have all the lower bass I like but, in a band setting, this speaker really sounds great. Plus, when I use it with a BG, it also sounds fantastic.
Only two problems:
1. Now the band hears all my mistakes.
2. I am beginning to realize the limitations of my DB pickup and may be in the market for something higher on the price list.
;o}
I advise you to drop Jorg at Schroeder a line and describe your needs. He was more than helpful in my case. |

Some folks seem to like them, but they just don't work well for me on any level. While I have not heard the newest form of the Mini 12 Light, in addition to the 1010 and Mini 12+, I have heard the 1210, 1212, 21012, and 410. I find Schroeder cabs to be anything but "uncolored", though it does sound like their coloration works for some people.
I included the Schroeders in my latest 1x12 and 2x10 shootouts.

+1
I own a 1212 and haven't been that crazy about it. Used it for electric bass on two gigs this weekend to see if I would change my opinion of it, but I didn't (Fender Precision with Walter Woods ultra). Never liked it for upright at all, but they are very well made cabs and have some girth to the sound so I'm sure for some folks they may be just right. Just not for me. The EAs are still my favorites. |

I prefer the wizzy. The wizzy weighs 32LBs the mini 12 weighs 28 by my scale. The front firing mini sounds very good to me, but I just think the wizzy is a bit warmer, has more low-end and is more vintage sounding which I prefer. I play strictly electric. I much prefer the front firing mini to the side firing which I have owned as well. I have two wizzys (for the ultimate lightweight stack) and I dont think I will ever need to get another cab. It wants for nothing.
