Talking Searching for the sound

Hi guys.I'm searching for arco amplified sound, very similar like the sound of Renaud Garcia Fons.I know that he has 5 string and using a high c, but I would like to know what kind of pick-up he has.
Also I'm searching for some bass effect like octaver but I wonder if there is any that transpose the sound octave ,or two higher, not lower.
Any help is highly appreciated....

There is an article about Renaud Garcia-Fons in the May 2008 issue of Bass Player magazine. It says a lot of stuff, including:
Strings E: Thomastik Spirocore weich; ADG: Spirocore solo, tuned down one whole-step; C: Pirastro flat chromosteel

Pickups Hubert Liegeois (live and recording), Fishman Full Circle (recording, mixed 15% for arco, 25-50% for pizz).

Rig Stereo power amp, two Bose 802 loudspeakers, two wedge monitors

Recording mics Sennheiser MKH 800 12" in front of bridge, plus Neumann KM 184 or Schoeps CMS cardio head at middle of bass

I tried a few octaver, from Boss to EBS. All of them make the the sound "pich shifted" and unnatural, on El bass I make octave effect with my fingers, i can't do this way so fast, but sound mutch better. If you need the octave pedal to play high register like Garcia Fons, you have to think instead in 5-string bass with a high C string, and practice a lot the tumb positions (Ludwig Streicher: My Way of Playing Double Bass, is good for that). Akai had a trasposer pedal (currently out of production) the Akai UB1, this build for using with the inbuild overdrive, but many people says, sounds "pich shifted" when using without overdrive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2YHS6wEGnQ

You can see it online here, at least until they pull it down. After that you'd have to contact them to order a back issue I guess.
