Strange, I found 9 threads about the SH 965 pickup when I ran a search on this forum.

You may want to read:
Shadow sh 965 nfx soundclip

That's the sole review I found with some details in these threads.

But 180 euros seems quite expensive to me.

I just searched titles of threads for Shadow and ...

Shadow sh 965 nfx soundclip

Shadow SH 965 NFX-B pickup

Shadow bass pickup

There are others, but either w/ no replies, no model #, or w/ a slightly different model #, like 950.

Underwood vs Shadow SH950

Opinion about Shadow SH-950

Edit --- Oops. Francois beat me to the punch.

i use this pickup... and it is pretty good... lots of tonal control... dead easy to install, looks really tidy when it is in place... and it sounds great through the GK backline 112.

recently however... i recorded a bassline for someone using it and there was some kind of 'line' hum... which had to be compressed out... very embarrasing

i haven't investigated this since, as have nothing to do right now... i hope its the battery going... but probably not knowing my luck

in my past experiences... shadow themselves are complete **** when it comes to communication and advice... do not supply spares directly... are really patronising when they do eventually get back... and should be avoided at all costs quite frankly.

i like this pickup, but if you can get by with another type... i would suggest you do..!

I had one and thought it was OK, but it was my first pickup, so what did I know. It doesn't seem to be very well made though.

bump..!!

i have just caught a glimps of a newer version of this pickup than mine, and i have noticed that the piezo pads and cables are far more substantial than on mine.

maybe they have realised that they needed to be better quality... i dunno, but am just in the process of returning mine for investigation... so we'll see what happens i guess... i hope they swap the 'poorer' bits for the 'better' ones... coz i do like the sound of this pickup..

The pads and cables were failure prone so they beefed them up over a year ago. Mine failed and was upgraded for free by KCStrings.

I've used the Shadow for over a year now and I really like it. I mean before I used the Fishman BP 100...by far the worst I've ever had to use but I've found that the Shadow for both live shows and recording provides great clarity, nice quality and I've never had any technical issues such as hums/feedback. Ever since Accusound started overtweaking their units with far too much output, the Shadow is easily one of the better pick ups available. Really good value for money as well.
