| Stage monitor setup question Dear fellow propagators of the long wavelength!
Excuse a semi-Luddite for a probably dumb question regarding proper connections for a stage monitor. Here's my situation:
I recently joined a big band, which requires a bit more amplification at times than my trusty AI Coda plus extension cab offer, especially when playing larger venues. I invested recently in an iAMP800 with 2 NL210s from (all hail!) Bob G. This works really (really!) well, I mostly set up one cab only. Last Saturday we played a country club and the room and band setup didn't leave much space for the rhythm section, so I put the 210 cab out front. Worked well for the audience (I guess, and no feedback issues either...) but I had a hard time hearing myself especially for the higher register. Ideal situation for a small monitor. I did have my AI coda with me as backup, but not the correct cables to set it up as a monitor, let alone that I wouldn't have known how to do that right. So, here's my questions:
1. If I plug in directly in the AI Coda, and take the direct out to the iAMP, I presume I would need an MIC to XLR converter? What input (high or low Z) to use at the iAMP?
2. Could I do it the other way around, i.e. from DI on the iAMP into the AI?
3. Could both the AI extension cab and the NL210 (different wattage at different resistances) be connected to the iAMP?
4. Any other suggestions? I'm a bit worried about experimenting because I don't want to damage anything as a result of my general lack of understanding of all things electronic.
Many thanks for your help,
Martin
