Upton Revolution Solo II pickup in Shen SB80?

Has anyone tried this combo? If so what are your thoughts about the tone without a preamp added? Or with? I'm also curious if I buy one secondhand that was previously installed on an Upton, would it fit the Shen? Another option I'm considering is the K&K Double Big Twin with the Pure Preamp. If anyone has tried this combo (on a Shen), please comment on your personal experience with it. I play mostly pizz jazz, but also am getting into arco a little, though it is less important right now. Thanks guys!

The Rev. Solo pickups are fit to the individual bridge. If the the gap underneath the wing is the same size or smaller, the pickup will fit (if it's smaller you will just have to carefully sand it down like they do it the shop).

In addition, make sure the input impedance of whatever you plug the Rev Solo 2 into is 1 Mohm or higher. I highly recommend fdeck's pre/HPF. The input impedance is 10 Mohm and the adjustable high-pass filter is quite effective at getting rid of nasty infrasonics that can be passed by any piezo pickup. If you want to know more on the topic, just do a search here.

I have a Shen SB80 also, with a full circle installed. it sounds pretty darn good through a regular amp w/o a pre amp. How ever i bought a preamp for the impedance issue for one, and to have more parametric EQ options.... I think that is the bigger advantage then the sound... it still sounds like my bass only without feedback or boominess... hope that helps in some way.

It does indeed, thanks! The full circle is a Fishman product right? I heard bad reviews about their other pickup (b100 I think), so this one must be quite an improvement. I'm thinking about getting a k&k double big twin + pure pre, but I might try the full circle if it is even across all the strings and doesn't feed back. What type of pre are you using?
