Because the frequency bands are too wide. I've tweaked them a bit, but the feedback is usually concentrated in a very narrow band, so a parametric eq is ideal (apart from the signal separation issue). I think I'm getting there. Thanks.

Could you take two mono leads from the preamp, run the mic feed through the notch, then join them with the "Y"?
Good luck!
I'll definitely fiddle around with the mic placement, but I suspect that if it's not over the f-hole, I'll be getting less level and will have to crank the level up even more, and then just get feedback again, but I don't want to sound too pessimistic.
I like this last idea a lot (two mono outs + parametric + "Y" lead)! Cheers, T-Bal.

Oh, yeah, and mics. But all of this stuff is so dang 'spensive. Here's what I'd like to try: the AMT mic ($549), the Schertler Stat-B and Dyn-B ($265 and $565), the Pub 2/280 (not sure, but I think around $900). I hear the Pub is not going to be available in the states anymore, so that should make it even higher. UGH.

Well, not only is my trinity mic sounding muddy and feeding back, but it's also distorting on the (low) C#/D, and pretty badly at that. The folks at K&K suggested this was due to pointing the mic directly into the f-hole, which I wasn't even doing (I pride myself on at least initially following user manuals)! I'm not sure what's going on there.
Dieter (that was his name) also poured cold water on my idea of using the Realist instead of the Trinity mic, stating that it just wouldn't work with the pre-amp (Realist going through the mic channel). As I haven't yet got the stereo "Y" lead, I can't report on the results, but I'm not feeling too optimistic. Any motions of support?
