It would be very helpful for you to fill out your profile so we get an idea of your level of experience, musical style, gear, etc etc. The DB side can be fairly crusty, but also very helpful if you approach it with some tact. The more info you can give in a question, the easier it will be for folks to jump in and help. Take everything with a grain of salt as your experience will be unique - there are few blanket answers on the subject of double bass.
There are hundreds of threads, and thousands of opinions on double bass pickups! ... The whole subject is kind of unwieldy. I would suggest doing a boatload of reading, then asking specific questions as you become more informed on the subject.
