I saw the Ray Brown Tribute here in Santa Cruz at Kuumbwa on Monday night, alas no John Clayton. It looked to me like CMcB was "using" an AMT, but also had a realist on the bass. I didn't see if he was using an amp or not, the room is small and the PA is really good, so maybe straight to the house?... really though, who cares what he was using, he can play!!

Yeah man, John & Christian were doing the Superbass thing in the beginning. John Clayton has such a beautiful arco sound too. At the end of the show, the two bassists traded 4's while the rest of the band backed them. All you could do was just shake your head at the sheer virtuosity. Maaaaaan!!!!

well Charlie has been using the stat b at least since 1990 when I began studying with him. It had two pick ups then, and there weren't too many of them about. that was 15 years ago.
oops, sorry, my bad.
