Why? Cause it sounds good.
It is a very even clean sounding box. Do a search. Lotsa goodies on this site. |

If anything I think the M-Line design gives the cab a less directional sound. I love it 'cause it can really hear it no matter where you stand. Drummers really dig it too since they are often set up to the side of the bass cab. I find it to be a pretty even sounding box. |

I believe it was made by "dawn" a US company (Illinois?)
The sound was basically a boxy boom. |

Sorry I called you Shirley, I won't do it again. |

It is not mid-shy at all IMO. In fact I think the mids and the cab's ability to project are what distinguish it from other cabs I've heard. I blend a pickup and a mic most of the time.
The M-line and the regular Wizzy 12 seem to have this combination of warmth and accuracy that I really dig. Not in the extended upper range, but definitely in the lows and mids.
One of the things I like best about it as I said is it projects out into the room really, really well. I get lots of compliments on the sound. Sits great in the mix too. And I like the off-axis dispersion like fingers said. Also works great for EB for me.
I have not tried the Bergantino, but it is very popular too. A/B them if you can. They both make a good sound.

I've tried it with a couple cabs (aforementioned EA, Aguilar GS112nt, little1x10 I built, MBX112) and the EA wins hands down. I feel like it has a nice fullrange sound with the least extended low or high end. It also seems to be the least feedback prone. I feel like I can really crank it before feedback becomes a problem. |

| | | | I gotta give props to my fave. EA VL208. Don't make it anymore. Pretty heavy for a little box, compared to the Neo loaded 12s. Sounds like nothing else.
YMMV. |

So I would take Bolo and Fingers suggestion. There are of course other cabinets out there, but I think if you did a little survey you would find that a great many of us use EA's. I understand that others have had good luck with Bergantino's as well.

GA | | | my personal favorite is actually the Acoustic Image downfiring cab that comes on the combos or you can buy without the amp on it. depending on your needs. i dont use mine for trying to project sound to the audience, it sounds really good to me on stage playing in a acoustic string band. i run a direct out of my contra amp for foh sound.
i do own the wizzy m-line as well. that is also a great cab, but usually puts too much volume on stage for my situation. part of the reason i prefer the ai cab is it seems to be more forgiving of poor technique. the wizzy definatley puts out what you put into it. there are alot of folks the donwfiring ai cab does not work for, but for my playing situation it seems to do the best job. |

I really like the sound of the B2 with the AI Focus, but that is with a Rob Allen fretless EB.

The cabinet does have a control for the mid 6" and the tweeters. I haven't had to turn them down as the tweeters are not harsh like the compression drivers in Eden and SWR cabs. Mine is one of the older Tri-112's and is a little heavier than the current ones Accugroove is selling. They also just introduced a Tri-112 combo containing their new Synergy amp. I haven't tried it yet but am looking forward to it.

my old favorite is the EA Wizzy10 that I still love and use for the smaller gigs and familiar rooms, keeping in mind that a 10" speaker has it's limits. if the room is new or unknown, the CXL is the one to bring.
I've used it for db and even plugged in a vocal mic at the same time (a singer wanted to sit in but we had no p.a.) and it worked pretty good.

Regardless of which power plant I use (an AI Focus-III, AI Clarus-SL or EA iAmp 300), these RE cabs always do it for me. |

I am sure that alot of other cabs sound fantastic as well. Some of these have been mentioned above. But I must say I have heard about more guys using EA cab's probably more than any other. Probably not so much in the EB forums but more so in the DB forums. I have been looking at the wizzy and the MLine wizzy for a while. I am really leaning towards the MLine. It really isn't much more weight and alot of guys really like it for DB as well as some liking it for EB as well. It really is hard to make comparisons by what others hear. But when you don't have a bass specialty store near you then this site is like the next best thing. If anybody has any other suggestions I would be glad to hear them. Thanks alot. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
