Compression and effects question for Michael Manring

Michael I was woundering If you use compression live? Also what kind of effects unit you use?

I don't have a single rule on using compression. I just try to use or not use it as is called for by the music. Most often for a live conventional, clean sound I tend to use a little subtle limiting just to make the sound man's job a bit easier. These days I'm using a Boss VF1 for most of my live shows.
