Michaels Vinny Bass question

Hi Michael,
My name is Gerry Evans and I met you at Bass Bootcamp last year.

My question is: What was the top wood on the Vinny bass that you had with you? Was it Maple Burl? I meant to ask you about it and completly forgot about it after the class. I really liked the pattern and the (greenish?) hue that it had.

Also, have you ever strung the Vinny Bass with piccolo strings? I'm looking for some one who has experience doing this on one of theses basses. I'm concerned if the locking mechanism at the nut will be able to hold the lighter string gauges without slippage?

I have a call out to the great people at Zon but like I said I'm just trying to get a better perspective from someone who has experience with this.

Have a happy holiday season and all the best!

Gerry Evans
