Is piano the same with playing bass guitar?

I know how to read music sheet and playing it in the piano.
But can you read use your 'ability' to read music sheets and PLAY it through your bass guitar?
If yes, then what are the pitch names of every string of the bass guitar?

Bass guitar is a transposing instrument, the notes sounding an octave below their written representations.

Standard tuning is E-A-D-G low to high, with the low E written one ledger line below the bass clef and sounding an octave lower.
