Questions about Michael`s tune "Febrile"

I´ve been listening to that tune a LOT lately. I originally bought that CD (Attention Deficit) many years ago and always thought the song was fantastic. I found fascinating how that fretless tone fits in an agressive rock setting. Since I`m slowly starting to improve my fretless skills (and I`m lucky enough to own a Zon Sonus) I`m bit intrigued about some aspects:

1- Do you remember which of your Zons you used for that track ?
2- Settings / effects used ?
3- I know that "the tone is in your fingers" but how do you obtain such a detailed and articulated sound ? Any tips about technique ?

Thanks a lot for your music, I`ve been a loyal fan since 1990. and if you ever visit South America, I`ll surely meet you.

Thanks for mentioning "Febrile," Papersen! We had a lot of fun making that record.

I used my main fretless for that track -- a custom Sonus/Hyperbass hybrid I call, "Junior." I recorded direct without an amp, but I don't recall which DI I used. possibly the one in my SWR Baby Blue, but in any case, I would have used one that doesn't color the sound much. For the crunch sounds I used an old Digitech multi-effects pedal, but I ran that on a separate track so I could keep the main signal clean. I hope that helps!
